INFORSE-Europe Action Plan
for the year 2001
Based on the INFORSE-Europe Annual General Meeting (E-mail), December 2000
(shortened version)


This INFORSE Action Plan is a continuation of ongoing INFORSE-Europe activities that have characterised the network during recent years.
It is divided in:
  • Network activities to support the members' activities for sustainable energy and cooperation among members
  • Lobby activities.

    NETWORK ACTIVITIES

    DIERET (Internet renewable energy education system) .
    In charge: Foundation for Alternative Energy, FAE

    Energy Planning Models for NGOs

    COLLECT SUCCESSES AND DATA FROM EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
    INFORSE-Europe will collect information on successes with sustainable energy and development of sustainable energy in European countries. The information will be made available on the INFORSE-Europe website. The work is expected to be co-ordinated with Helio's Global Energy Observatory.

    INFORSE-Europe will provide assistance to interested members on how to make national and local sustainable energy plans. Information will be available on the website, and additional information and examples will be available from the co-ordinators. The activity will be included in the update of the website.

    INFORSE-EUROPE MEETING AND SEMINAR
    It is proposed to organise a one-week seminar in Denmark focusing on the latest developments in sustainable energy technologies and strategies. It is proposed to organise a three days tour, visiting renewable energy sites from Copenhagen to The Danish Folkecenter for Renewable Energy and a three days seminar + INFORSE-Europe meeting, probably at the Folkecenter. The seminar will take place in September 2001.

    This website will be updated regularly, and will include information on activities, members and important links.

    ENERGY PLANNING MODELS FOR NGOs
    Expected output: Collection of information for 2-3 countries/regions and 2 successes, available on website
    Workplan:
    * Based on discussion by email among interested organisations, formats for descriptions will be elaborated.
    * The formats will be tested on 2-3 countries/regions and 2 success-stories.
    Responsible: OVE

    COOPERATION WITH OTHER INFORSE REGIONS
    INFORSE-Europe is part of the worldwide INFORSE network and will co-operate with other INFORSE regions and with the secretariat. A main common activity will be inputs to the Commission for Sustainable Development's meeting on energy (CSD9).

    COOPERATION WITH CAN CEE
    Facilitation and joint project preparation with CAN CEE can help INFORSE`s NGOs with fund rising for their projects. NGOs will be informed about the outcomes of the discussion between EU and CAN CEE. Contacts with Lavinia Andrei (CAN CEE co-ordinator) will be maintained by Emil Bedi with the aim to get some funding for the new INFORSE`s projects and for one outstanding project preparation of publication on Renewable Energy Technologies (Ali Eltari, Albania).

    LOBBYING ACTIVITIES

    FOLLOW DEVELOPMENT IN EU
    INFORSE-Europe shall continue to follow the development of EU's energy policies, including the EU Climate Change Program.

    EUROPEAN WIND CAMPAIGN
    The European wind campaign shall be continued with finalisation and presentation of the work in Russia. In addition, INFORSE-Europe will co-operate with interested national organisations in formulating national strategies for windpower, and lobby in EU for measures to realise the European strategy.
    Expected output: Assistance in development of 1-2 national strategies
    Workplan:

    • Invite INFORSE members to co-ordinate national strategies
    • Assist development of national strategies
    • National presentation of national strategies
    • Presentation on website and probably in Sustainable Energy News
      Responsible: OVE

     

  • INFORSE - GEF COOPERATION
    INFORSE-Europe/FAE will be a focal point for closer co-operation between INFORSE`s NGOs and GEF`s NGO representative Susan Legro based in Bratislava. FAE could facilitate discussion between NGOs and GEF and inform INFORSE NGOs about the way how GEF works.

  • European ECO-FORUM / Pan-European Energy Efficiency
    INFORSE-Europe shall continue to co-ordinate the ECO-Forum Working Group on Energy & Climate, in co-operation with Climate Network Europe. Emphasis shall be on proposals for co-operation on sustainable energy.
